The effects of structural and microenvironmental disorder on the electronic properties of poly[2-methoxy,5-(2'-ethyl-hexoxy)-1,4-phenylene vinylene) (MEH-PPV) and related oligomers
Article Abstract:
The electroabsorption (Stark) spectroscopy is used to determine the trace of the change in polarizability and the absolute value of the change in dipole moment of the electroluminescent polymer poly[2-methoxy,5-(2'-ethyl-hexoxy)-1,4-phenylene vinylene) (MEH-PPV) and related oligomers in solvent glass matrixes. A value of change in polarizability is found of ~2000 angstrom (super 3) for the polymer and for a 9-ring substituted oligomer in both toluene and 2-methyl tetrahydrofuran mixtures at 77 K with smaller values being obtained fro 3- and 5-ring unsubstituted oligomers.

Pulse radiolysis-optical absorption studies on the triplet states of p-pheylenevinlene oligomers in solution
Article Abstract:
Pulse radiolysis of benzene solutions of p-henulenevinylene oligomers generates triplets states, radical-anions and radical-cations of the solutes, and their UV/vis absorption spectra is recorded. It was found that the different species could be distinguished by their kinetic behavior and the effect of carbon dioxide or oxygen.

Electro-oxidation of Benzyl alcohol in a biphasic system consisting of supercritical CO2 and ionic liquids
Article Abstract:
The electro-oxidation of benzyl alcohol was conducted by electrolysis in an ionic liquid/supercritical CO2 two-phase system in an undivided cell at 318.2 K. It was observed that the products could be easily recovered from the IL by using SC CO2 extraction after the electrolysis, and the IL could be reused.
